The Performing Academia Program

There is an effective public speaker within each of us. My goal is not for you to emulate any particular public speaking style or any particular person. Rather, the Performing Academia program is designed to bring out the best version of the public speaker in you. You can apply the skills from this program to any professional setting - in the classroom, at a professional conference, in front of a camera, and at meetings with industry and community partners.

About Me

Portrait of a smiling woman with black hair wearing a red top against a black background.

My name is Ivy Ho. I have a PhD in Clinical Health Psychology and am a tenured associate professor. I am also a trained semi-professional actor. I have mostly worked in theater, and have some experience in film as well. Using my skills and experiences from psychology, academia, and acting, I help fellow academics discover the public speaker within them.

Foundations of the Performing Academia Program

  • Strasberg's Method

Lee Strasberg’s approach to acting involves drawing from experiences in one’s own life to create authenticity.

  • Relaxation Techniques

An important starting point for an effective presentation is relaxation. Learn common relaxation techniques psychologists use.
